The Idea | The Speech
I've always loved new challenges. I believe that your life finally starts when your out of your comfort zone. By choosing to be a photographer, I feel like it's my job to show a life full of adventure and happiness by inspiring others to do the same. This is why I feel called to hike the PCT.
The idea of this journey was to always strive for growth within who I am, knowing I was a very vulnerable and dependent person. Every step I take on this trip is a crucial factor in gaining independence, and being like, it's okay to be exactly who I am and that's enough. I mean, it doesn't matter what you look like, what stuff you have, what age or gender you are. What matters is embracing vulnerability and facing your fears.
From being an athlete at a young age, I've taught myself how to get to the point weather or not I decide to keep going. Hiking southbound is a dangerous thing if your not in tip top shape from the very start. Snow levels are inconsistent, days will be longer, miles will go on forever. My plan is to be in the best shape of my life before I hit the trail. That means my days consist of hiking, gym, trail running, hiking, swimming, and more hiking. The goal is to test myself, and see how strong I can be.
I may be young and inexperienced, but I will never let that stop me from pursuing anything. That only makes me want to push myself to be better and stronger than I was before. Being out there is comfortable, stable or anything beyond that. But it's where I feel called to go. It's where I feel like I am supposed to be.
"If we don't allow ourselves to get to that place where vulnerability takes over, we will never allow ourselves to grow as individuals."
